Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,
I would like to wish you a very warm welcome to Markyate Village School and Nursery. This website has been designed to keep parents informed and to give newcomers an introduction to the school in terms of the work of our staff and governors and the learning journey that our children take each year.
We have a dedicated, enthusiastic and committed team of people made up of our staff, our governors and Friends of Markyate (FOMs), who together ensure our school is a happy, exciting place where everyone is valued and respected.
All those in our school community strive to provide an environment where children are actively encouraged to reach their full potential both academically and socially.
Our teachers believe that every child matters and work hard to provide high quality teaching which meets the needs of each child. As a result, our children become keen, engaged students who listen and question well and learn in an environment of kindness, responsibility and respect. These values are established in the School Aims and the Golden Rules which work together to form the backdrop of everyday school life.
Our staff have high expectations of pupils, in their work and in the way they interact with others. Simply put, we expect children to work to the best of their ability, as well as behave in a polite and responsible manner at all times. This in turn creates a nurturing environment for all that encourages a love of learning.
Parents and carers play a very important part in school life and we value our partnership with them. We all share responsibility for the children’s education and we look forward to working closely together so that all children can learn well. We encourage parents to become involved in all aspects of school life, to ensure that, as partners, we can promote high standards in learning, behaviour and attitudes to enable every child to reach her/his full potential.
We believe Markyate Village School and Nursery is a school to be proud of; a place where children are inspired to learn and grow to be respectful, responsible and caring individuals. We wish your child a happy and successful time at our school.
With best wishes,
Mrs. L.E. Johnson
